There is no guarantee that you will get a chance to win even after you lost a large amount. The next thing is to control over your betting amount. Never go for a big bet unless you have already won a lot of money and you will not risk your original capital by placing a large bet. First of all, when you set for playing, always fix an amount that you are agreed to lose. If you think you cannot control yourself, you better leave the extra amount in your home. But do not go for more money that you can handle. This is the most common mistake that almost every player makes.

The best choice to fix the amount you can afford to lose is the amount you have started with. The starting amount is also a good choice to finish, that means if you win the same amount of money that you started and you have double of your starting total, you better take yourself off without playing more. For a starting $5 is a good choice. Place your bet on the Pass Line. The next step is to place double odds on either six or on eight.  Five and nine are better choices for single odds. If the dice hit six or eight, bring down both and do not bet on odds if these numbers came up.

Let’s assume for a moment that you’re playing on a table that happens to be cold. In other words, it doesn’t appear anybody is really winning. Place a bet on the 6 and 8 after the come out roll for $12 each. Reduce the bets to $6 if either hit wins and play until both hit of 7 shows. By reducing the bets, you should come out with at least a $2 win. This particular strategy isn’t very daring or bold. However, it is a way in which you can mitigate your risk while at the same time giving yourself the best possible opportunity to turn a profit.

Okay, let’s explain the theory behind the strategy. Craps, assuming that you know how to play the game properly, is about an even game of chance with the house having a slight edge. In other words, mathematically, out of two come out rolls, on average, you will win one and lose one. If this holds true, then the only way to beat the house is for them to take less money from you when you lose and give you more money when you win. There is a simple strategy that will do just that.

Let’s assume we’re playing at a $10 minimum craps table. In that case, what we want to do is bet $20 on our first come out roll. You’ll see why in a second. Let’s assume that we win that first come out roll. It is actually a statistical fact that 70% of the people are up on the casinos at one time or another but the reason they lose is because they keep betting. So, given we have now won $20, what we want to do, on our come out roll, is drop our bet down to the table minimum, or $10.

Take a look at what happens if we lose that bet. We won the first bet at $20, lost the second bet at $10. We’ve played the house even, having won one and lost one, and YET…we are $10 up on them. Okay, get it? Do you see how powerful this system is? In a choppy table of win-lose-win-lose, you can really clean up. This will work for either pass or don’t pass betting.

The rest of the progression goes like this…$15, $20, $25, $30, $35…and so on until you lose. Then you start all over again at $20 dropping down to $10 after a win. If you lose three straight, you walk away from the table.

There are 11 possible values to roll in craps…everything from 2 to 12. There are 6 ways to make a seven…more than for any other number combination on the dice. Even the next best combinations, 6 and 8, there are only 5 ways to make each of those. Therefore, after the come out roll, you have 6 ways to crap out and only 5 ways to make the point. For 5 and 9 it is 6 to 4 and for 4 and 10 it is 6 to 3.

Oh, let’s not forget that on the come out roll, while we have 8 ways that can beat us outright (the 7 and 11) there are 3 ways we can win with the 2 and 3 rolls. The 12 roll is a wash for the don’t pass better. Still, there is only about a 22% chance that the shooter will beat us on the first roll. In other words, less than 1 out of every 4 come out rolls will beat us. After that, the don’t pass better has the edge.

What I would do, before I even start betting, is chart the table for 10 come out rolls. If the don’t pass better wins at least five of those 10 come out rolls either through craps or the shooter not making the point, sit down and start betting don’t pass at that table. I am a firm believer in trends and they usually do last for a while. Again, as a don’t pass better, you are going to have the advantage anyway after the come out roll if a 7 or 11 isn’t thrown.

Naturally, this is still gambling and it isn’t fool proof, but if you want to give yourself the best advantage, in my opinion, this is the way to do it. If you don’t mind all the nasty looks you’re going to get from the other players, plunk down that $10 chip on don’t pass and see what happens.
